The field perspective

The unit of study is the whole psychological event, with its factors considered together.

01 / Inside the segment

A closer look at the whole.

Select a shape or a label. Each element opens a different view of the same event.

Enlarge the diagram opens a dedicated view with larger text. Return with Escape or the Back to page button.

Swipe the diagram sideways to see its full width. You can also choose an element from the list.

Organism / responseObject / stimulation
One integrated event

A conceptual map, not an anatomical diagram. Nested shapes distinguish terms; their size does not indicate importance. The time ribbon is schematic and does not imply equally long or identical events.

02 / From the collection

The original
point of departure.

The circles, rectangles, and continuing fields come from the diagram collection. Explore three of the images that informed this atlas.

About the diagrams & further reading

The redraw follows the organization and terminology of the supplied diagrams. Explanations are introductory paraphrases; the reading episode is an invented teaching example. RB and SE describe historical development associated with the response and stimulus sides of the relation.

History is labeled at the left for readability. In Kantor’s original diagram it continues across segments (1942, p. 268).

In the enlarged view, use ← and → to move through the elements. Press Escape to return to the page. All exploration works offline; further-reading links require an internet connection.
